Calling all Erie-Lackawanna fans

An Erie-Lackawanna railroaders convention is to be held September 17 - 19 in Jamestown, NY at the Holiday Inn. Activities will include a Western New York and Pennsylvania equipment display (expect to see ALCOs), a ride on the New York and Lake Erie from Cherry Creek to Gowanda and return, tour of Jamestown's Erie station, buffet lunch and later dinner with Bill Burt, president of the WNY&P. Registration is $20 for E-L Historical Society members and $25 for the rest of us.The buffet is another $25 (for that price it had better be good). The station tour is significant because the building is an official national treasure and is to be refurbished soon with $1.5 mil of your tax dollars. While you are in Jamestown be sure to visit the Lucy-Desi museum (this was Lucy's home town). There is lots more to see and do here, too.

For more convention information call Joe Schueder at (440) 796-4205 or Lee Harkness at (716) 664-2477. Harkness is director of the Downtown Jamestown Development Corp. All the above info was quoted from today's Jamestown Post-Journal (except for my parenthetical notes).
