Hi
I am working on a very detail prototypal 3d model of a USRA light mikado, specifically one the six versions that were delivered to the Rutland Railroad. I have been able to find some good elevation and cross section drawings and component drawings in the Cyclopedias and some good pictures of existing USRA light mikados to help with the detailing.
Where I have run into trouble is with the trailing trucks and the rear part of the engine in general. People love to take the 3/4 view photos from the front, but very very rarely of the rear. The USRA light mikado had Hodges trailing truck, but Hodges came in two general categories, the initial ones had a made up frame, and the later ones had a cast steel frame. Existing engines on display, like the IC 1518 in Paducah, KY, fall into the former category and all the USRA light mikado's fall into the later category.
What I am hopping to find is some detail pictures of cast Hodges trailing trucks. Some engines that have survived that had these are:
B&O 4500 in Baltimore, MD
GT&W 4070 in Cleveland, OH
UP 2537 in Jefferson Park, Walla Walla, WA
Any help would be great.
