What Happened to Railway Preservation News?
Posted by wallyworld on Saturday, April 21, 2007 2:06 PM
I just went on their website and read that a lawsuit was threated and the website is locked and RYP will be dissolved...what in the world happened? This was one of the best websites bar none on news related to railway preservation....it will be sorely missed by yours truly.

The official message posted on RPN has been repeated by Hume/Eric on at least one other forum (TO).  Don't know what happened; maybe we never will because of extenuating circumstances.  That's one board I'll miss because of its unique viewpoint.

I am quite disappointed as I had only recently come across the site.  The message seems to indicate that the forums could be potentially moved to a new home if a host can be found and the board approves.  I certainly hope that they move in that direction.

This is sad indeed. I have been a daily visitor for years now and I
will miss RyPN very much.

Maybe this link will help a little: http://www.steampreservation.com/
Bob Harbison, who hosts several good railroad pages is doing his best
to help fill the void.

RyPn will be back Sunday.  New management; new rules.

Thank goodness it's back. It is really one of the best sites that shares a synergy with this forum from both a history and preservation perspective. I seldom browse one without the other. While the website and the former magazine are unrelated, from time to time, I still go back to my copies of the print version as I find them to be great reference material. Now if we could only get that one back in circulation..but I am pleased and thankful the other has returned.
