I did not know U.P. had so many turbine units. I seen Photos of 73 of two types.

What was the HP of the turbine units?

What was the tractive effort of the turbine unit?

What was the noise level of the turbine unit?

When they ran the turbine did they run the diesel unit also?

I heard that they shut the turbine unit down in towns and cities.

I seen photos of the units in Los Angles. How far East did they service?

When on the road, did they swap out the fuel tender or take the time to fill it? What was the range of the tender?

The "Verandas" were rated at 4300HP

I do not have the figure at hand as to their t.e.

Yes. All but UP 50(1st) could M.U. with diesels.

They would throttle back and coast through towns, but this was a very tricky thing for less experienced engineers, who would experience a "flame out" if they didn't throttle back up just so.

The Turbos ran as far east as Grand Island NE.

The tender was semi-permanently coupled to the unit(s) ahead of it. They tried not to let a turbo out of a terminal if it's tender was even 90% full.

They could run LA-Salt Lake City easily, unless delayed.

I am going to investigate into this a lot more.

I just thought it was a shrot term experment.

I picked up one video 45 min. total sound track was of a LAWNMOWER / TWO CYCLE OUTBOARD MOTOR.

A major scene was a person shooting at a grade crossing. You watched a massive unit going by, all you hear was PUTT, PUTT, PUTT,PUTT.

I knew darn well that could not be factual.

I lost total interest.
