In your animation of Walchaert's valve gear, why is the reversing shaft lever moving up and down? This can be seen at the top, just to the left of the expansion link.

Well, I'd say it's probably because it's only clipart from my school's website...I am nowhere near skilled enough in these komputers to create a gif that good, let alone an animated jpeg.

Thanks for your explanation. I'm afraid that I know nothing about computers and have no idea what a gif is, but I do understand Walschaert's valve gear, and steam in general.
