Western Maryland Diesel Classification
Posted by NW_611 on Saturday, March 11, 2006 9:17 PM
Apologies if this is readily available somewhere; I've never managed to find it.

What did the Western Maryland call their F7Bs? I read somewhere---probably one of the WM diesel books---that their F3As were "DF-16" and their F7As were "DF-22". Unfortunately, this book is no longer available to me, since the store that had it closed.

I'd appreciate any help. [:)]

No problem, they were the same class, "DF22". Unlike other carriers that assigned different classes to booster units, WM used the same class, I presume on the basis of performance.

Thanks much; I appreciate your response. I vaguely remember (and photographic evidence would seem to bear this out) that the F3As underwent modification, perhaps to F7A standard. Y'reckon they did that to the B-units as well, and reclassified them?
