....An 11th hour booking between the K.C. Railroad Experience and The Friends of the 261 have the crew scrambling to meet a departure time of 7AM Monday (Sept 19th) from Minneapolis Junction....261 will pull a 5 car consist of orange and maroon Hiawatha cars with obs/lounge "Cedar Rapids" bring up the rear....She will take a crew of 10 with no paying passengers on this run....Return will be on the 28th, just in time for her revenue runs on October 8th and 9th (see 261.com)

....She will go down the west side of the Mississippi River thru Red Wing, Le Crescent and then on to Mustactine, Ia for her first nights layover....Then on to Kansas City in the next day or so....

....The consist is, baggage/tool EARLING, crew car GRAND CANYON, cafe/lounge WISCONSIN VALLEY, sleeper MINNESOTA VALLEY, and skytop lounge CEDAR RAPIDS....

....261 and crew arrived safely at the Kansas City Union Station this AM....The train will be on static display thru the weekend for the grand opening of the new rail fan facility....

....The Kansas City special made it home safely to Minneapolis last Wednesday....The 261 crew is now getting ready for the fall color excursion trips this weekend going from Mpls to Le Crescent, Mn and back on the 8th and the 9th....I'm told that there are still tickets available see (261.com)....
