I said diesel because that is all I have ever known.I have seen electrics on trips to the east coast,and have seen steam on fantrips and tourist lines,but growing up it has been all diesel.

I suspect steam will win this one. They have a romance about them that diesels don't have. Ever notice how the symbol for a train is always a steam locomotive.

for diesel it would have to be ac4400 cw.as for steam it would be 4-8-4.

Steam-steam-and more steam. Steam talks to ya, diesels just hum along. I truly wi***he young folks could go back in time and get up close to an old Berk pulling a heavy freight drag up a grade at 15 MPH and break traction. Those firemen and engineers earned their pay back then. Some engineers were true muscians with the steamers whistle too. You got to know the engineer by the way they used the whistle. Nothing really wrong with diesel, thats progress. Ken
