The late great GG1 to me is the best electric locomotive every build. 50 years of service. What other loco can say that.

How can you even ask? The GG-1 is a legend; most of the rest are motors under hooding.

Moop Moop!

I've alway's liked the more plain jane BW / EE steeple cabs and boxcabs that served the many electric frieght roads of north america. BW Btype 90 ton steeple cab 335 late of the Grand River Railway seen at our museum in Ontario. Rob

The "G" was magnificent, of course. But the Butte, Anaconda & Pacific had some nifty little motors...

My favorite, the E2B is not on there. The E2Bs demonstrated on the GN, VGN, NH and PRR before being purchased by the Pennsy.

I voted for the W-1 Cascade! The electric "Big Boy"

I also like the GE 7800 horsepower model used by the Virginian Railroad

Does anyone have the actually builder's classification for this?

I originally voted for the Jets ( Not the mediocre injury prone Football team that had one brief shining moment in Super Bowl III,but the NH EP-5s. Those babies were compact, powerful and cursed by being owned by bankrupt Railroads( NH and PC). Metro-North,NJ Transit, SEPTA and Spamtrak could have benefitted from their combination of flexibility, power and speed.) However, much closer to home, there were seven mighty mites working on the obscure Niagara Junction Railway, in Niagara Falls NY. Some of 'em worked in GCT until a short time ago for Metro North. I recall them fondly along with the professionals that ran the line safely, despite hauling some of the deadliest cargoes imaginable! Hats off to them all, even the jerk that hated railfans! GE built them in 1952, and were it not for Conrail's desire to cut costs, along with falling traffic, they could still be at work right now!
