New York Central Observation Car #61 in Vernon, CA
Posted by 081552 on Friday, May 27, 2005 12:26 PM
At the corner of Vernon and Alameda Boulevard in Vernon, California there's a New York Central observation car on the property of a frozen fish company called Red Chamber. I wrote to the company and they said the car was on the property when they purchased it. The previous owner must have also placed the old fire truck on the top of the office!

Any idea how this car ended up in Vernon?

Thanks

Amtrak operated the car in San Diegan service until replaced by Amfleet cars it was then stored in LA until sold to a private owner.
