The Wanamakers Kempton and Southern in Berks Co, PA - I've never been to it and would like to. Is it worth the ride at $7?

I have never been to this line but anyplace you can ride a train, especially for only $7, would be worth checking out. Here in the middle of the country train rides are few and far between. You ride it and you might just discover how enjoyable riding trains is. You might even find other railfans and make new friends. The most you'll lose is $7 and some of your time.

I know the WK&S very well. And it is well worth the $7. The line has two tank engines and a couple of small diesels. Coaches are mostly ex Reading (one is DL&W). There is some interesting freight equipment, mostly Reading and L&NE. If you don't mind the cinders, one can even ride an open L&NE gondola. As I recall, diesels usually run on Saturday and steam on Sunday, but check with the railroad for specific information. The line traverses a beautiful strectch of rural countryside that has not yet succumbed to suburban sprawl.

Our line charges 5 bucks for a ride 10 if you want to ride the cab. Not the most scenic line ( trees on both sides of the track one bridge) but a lot of people come on up and enjoy it. Like early posted go for it! I went to ours for the first time 3 years ago with my then girlfriend. Today I am married to her and one of the lead engineers ! All right all right the getting married part had nothing to do with the train ride, however I wouldnt have made all the new friends I have if I hadnt gone, nor would I have gotten the chance to operate with them. Just for perspective I live 2 hours away.

Yes we are on time but this is yesterdays train

Motor,

IMHO it is certainly worth it! My family and I went there last weekend and for 7 bucks you can ride the train all afternoon(4 hours if you get there early). It's a nice slow ride through scenic rural PA farmland and you can get plenty of soot on you if you want to ride in(on?) the gondola. We got to ride in the cupola of the caboose once which was neat.
