Yes, some of that was certainly a reminder of how baseball could kind of suck before the 1969 season ... why a bowl-shaped stadium in 'Flushing' was peculiarly appropriate, and a Mets Hot Streak Express perhaps appropriately short.

On the other hand, '69 paid for all.

But what's this crap with the 'Long Island' Mets?  Nobody called the Jets that, even after they wisely left New York State entirely ... or said much about the North Arlington Giants either.  And it would be redundant in the extreme for the Islanders, perhaps my favorite team... <honks horn in familiar pattern>

Simply reading from left to right "Long Island Mets", or a tribute to Mike, or just being a wise guy, or joining the LIRR with a baseball team and putting that spin on it. 

The Long Island Islanders.. hey that's not bad, I mean come on man.

But! ... they are a young and very exciting team to watch and getting by the Caps and OV is no small feat. Had my eye on them since late last year. I'm rooting for them in the East, the Golden Knights in the West. ( my beloved Blackhawks are golfing)

Looks like they clobber Philly, it's 4-0 with 5 minutes left.
