I was going to post this on the "Trains" Forum, but there's too many grumpy old men over there right now.  I think this is a better venue anyway, since like it or not, the train's historic and, for lack of a better term, "classic."  Besides, all the cool people on the "Trains" Forum that might be interested come here anyway!

You ain't kidding!  Hermann was an O-gauger we'd rather not have had in the hobby.  Maerklin remembers him as a customer they'd have rather not had, but to their credit they won't hide the fact he did buy a lot of their trains.

It happened.  No point in hiding it.  Remarkable that they were able to survive the war's bitter end and subsequent German economic collapse.

I've learned a lot from Dr. Felton over the last month.  His videos are a great way to make the time pass in quarantine.

Thanks for the Bing link!  They made some beautiful stuff, didn't they? 

I did some checking on Bing.  They went out of business due to the world-wide economic depression that began in 1929, and sold some of their tooling to another toy train maker named Bub.  The Bing family did see which way the wind was blowing in 1933 however and got the hell out of Germany, moving to Britain.
