Ashton Valve company

Three years ago I started researching the company my ancestor, Henry G. Ashton, founded in 1871. The Ashton Valve Company. The company was immediatley successful with Henry's invention of the "pop safety valve", a device that had an immediate impact on the problem of exploding boilers in locomotives, ships, and power stations. If you've been in a locomotive cab, a Stanley Steamer automobile, or a boiler room, there's a chance you have seen Ashton Valve safety valves, gauges, and other steam related products. The company was a leading supplier of boiler products to the railroad industry for over 100 years.

I'm hoping readers will get back to me with their own Ashton Valve stories.

Attached is a brief history of the company and some information on the Pop safety valve that put the company on the map.
