Metropolitan station in North Toronto was located at Yonge Street and Birch Avenue on the north side of the CPR whose station was on the south side. Circa 1905.Note the sign boards advertising the CNE in Toronto and the Newmarket Fair. From here radial cars operated north to Richmond Hill, Aurora and Newmarket.The line was later extended to Jackson's Point and Sutton on Lake Simcoe.

Great photospread Miningman! In a way, a lot of those shots remind me of North Jersey "Way back when."
One thing that struck me was in the photos with the paved roads just how few cars were on them!
I found a great video of some North Jersey trolleys. Not my old "stompin' grounds," but a good idea of what once was. No music, but good footage!

Midland Mike-- From the above map it shows a 'new' access to the CPR was being built so there was some kind of connection.

Got to be taken back by the 'final destination' with their route designations still in place. 'Bloor', 'Christie', 'King', 'Carleton'... going off across the seas to Egypt... that ain't the Bloor car anymore despite what it says. TTC logos intact.
I think they run 2 PCC's down at Harbourfront for the tourists.
Rode many a PCC car all over the city over my 6 years in the Big Smoke. Queen car almost everyday. Daily except Sunday as they say. Always a PCC in those days. I was gone from Toronto when the new next generation of streetcars replacing the PCC arrived. Now they are scrapped, 'too old'. Yeesh.
Yes gentle frosts, not hard, but wiped out my Lobellia, Nikki's and Petunias ( usually Petunias are pretty resistant and hardy but this bunch succumbed). Last Friday in August it snowed, a snow drizzle, very fine, just after midnight. All the outdoor furniture cushions were white. Gone by morning. It's been a cold summer, mostly mid 60's high and low 40's low. Almost daily, and wet as can be. Deg F for our American buddies. No forest fires though! Think we had 3 days breaking 80, and that for only a few hours late afternoon. Very cold out on the lake. The ground and lakes never warmed up normally at all.

Fate and Destiny pour moi tomorrow in Saskatoon as a sit down with the cardiologist. Gonna tell it to me straight. ( he makes the arrogant Dr. Strange before the accident look like an amateur). I'll take door #3, hopefully the one where nothing happens.

It will always be the Bloor car, whether it lives in Toronto or not.

I don't think I've ever seen a portable turntable for road vehicles before...
Presumably to allow the truck to approach the end of paving backwards without multi point turns.
Toronto is well represented with historic photos on the internet, many of which show streetcar and interurban lines but rarely the cars themselves, except for end views in the distance.

I've never seen a portable turntable either, that's unusual.
There was a bus turntable at the New Jersey Central's terminal in Jersey City for the B&O New York City shuttle buses. Made life a lot easier for the bus drivers!
