Clearly in the running for post of the year.

(I suggest "Forlorn is the Geep..." when we put the caroler's misguide together in a week or so...)

I just fell off the chair!  Good one Miningman!  Bow

Probably the closest a Geep will ever come to being a Christmas locomotive.  Christmas is for steam, as we all know.

Imagine a child, boy or girl, growing up in this world o' diesels, going trackside, or, even better, for a ride, and seeing something like this...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7Zyf9hbk0c

That child will always associate a steam locomotive with Christmas, just like the rest of us.

Ain't no diesels under my  Christmas tree!  On the regular layout yes, but only because they were on sale!

No — El

No — El...

Tell me again Mr. cummings, what was it that finally convinced him after he wouldn't believe what plato and jesus and i told him...

The first No-Oil, and you won't find this strange,

Came to certain poor Wise Men who came from LaGrange

They sneaked up their Woodwards more than just a bit

but 315 pounds made it all look like sh.... aving cream!

No Oil, No oil, No oil, No oil ...

they like only engines that come to a boil.

Now if someone will send me a postable link of one of those MoPac engines lettered for them but painted in UP colors, I'll give you the next verse...

Miningman

There was a road called Un-cle Pete

Which engaged in a Mop-UP that was so sweet.

The eagles and buzzsaws we all thought were swell

Are now just Armour Yellow ... we say what the h-e-double toothpicks

No Ea-gell, no eagell, no eagell, no eagell

Gone are the eagles that we loved so well.

There once was this man* surnamed An-der-son

Who refused to think Amtrak could be grand or fun

He cancelled the tot's toys and the private cars

And imposed frozen meals ... he must be from Mars

Oh well, oh well, oh well, oh well

Dead are th'amenities he couldn't sell...

*Originally his first name was used, as a pun

But for family-friendly that would not be bon ton.

We all know an author named Joe McMa-hun

Who thinks Amtrak is jumping the HSR gun

By buying the cost-ly train Li-ber-ty

When plain trains have enough ca-pa-bi-i-li-ty

No Avel', no Avel', no Avel', no Avel'

Rebuilt Sprinters and tube cars would be-e just swell...

Low OR and low speeds are a CSX fave

Higher costs would set Hunter aspin in his grave

Lack of in-termodal stock has them tearing their hair

And the big Christmas rush loadings soon will be there

No well, no well, no well, no well

Boxcars will make for long terminal dwell

Beyond pretty good.  I just shot a half-glass of Coca-Cola through my nose reading those variations on "First Noel!"

Thank God I missed the computer!  A Christmas miracle...
