Yeah, with Captain Marvel, the FBI, and the Marines on guard nobody's gonna hurt the Freedom Train!  Especially that ex-Nazi, now working for the Commies or the KKK ( or whoever) little rat Sivana!

As I suppose everyone knows, there really was a Freedom Train that traveled the United States in the post World War Two years, and as it shows in the comic, it carried documents and artifacts from American history.

Pointedly, the train would not go to cities where segregation was in force and the local authorities wouldn't bend on that issue.

Here's the Freedom Train story, for those who might not know...

Neat bit of history, thanks for posting Miningman!

That's a remarkably good rendition of a PA!

The 'new' Captain Marvel is a woman, as we got a glimpse of as Nick Fury put out the SOS at the end of Infinity Wars.

So maybe we can get Amtrak and Chargers and Carol Danvers instead of the now old dude and PA's. Same thing only different, ... I think.

So maybe we can get Amtrak and Chargers and Carol Danvers...

And what's wrong with the pride of Beverly, Massachusetts?  I'm thinking we could all use a Psyche-Magnitron along about now -- perhaps some of us need one more than others?

I will grant you that pretty railroad faces are a bit hard to come by nowadays.  That includes Sprinters, Avelia Liberties, and anything even remotely associated with Cesar Vergara...

The Marvel Universe or should I say Mar-Vel, just gets better and better. I sure hope Stan got a cameo in this one as filming was done while he was still with us.

Can't wait.

So the new Captain Marvel is a woman?  Well, why not?

The new Doctor Who is a woman, although he/she must have had a helluva shock at the last re-generation!

Thanks to Mike for that information!!

Since I was growing up while Shazam! was on TV, it was only very, very recently that I ever knew that it was Captain Marvel I had been watching between 74 and 76!  Big Smile

I vaugely remember that TV show "Shazam!" from back in the 70's.  Never watched it though.

That distinguished looking old gent in the photo intrigued me, so I looked up the show and cast.  I thought there was something familiar about him, and so there was!  That's Les Tremayne, a veteran radio, film, and TV character actor.  I rmember him best as General Mann from the 1951 film "War Of The Worlds."

And that great line of his after the atomic bomb attack on the Martians fails...

"Guns! Tanks! Bombs!  They're like TOYS against them!"

Great bit of acting on ol' Les' part.  A perfect rendition of a military man who's sworn to defend his country, but finds himself and his colleagues absolutely, utterly powerless to do so.

General Mann shortly voices a grim determination to fight the Martians any way he can, for as long as he can, but we never see him again.  Presumeably he gave his all.

What a great film!
