Proper valve gear positioning for a pre-war AF #420 loco
Posted by vikes88 on Friday, April 15, 2011 1:37 AM

Hello,

Could anyone post photos of the proper positioning of the valve gears on an AF #420 loco...I'm in the process of putting a '420' back together and need some assistance (photos would help) on the proper placement of the valve gears on each side.

       Thanks for any assistance.

I'd recommend reposting this question over on the Classic Toy Trains thread.  In particular, there is a thread - now 45 pages long - by Northwoods Flyer on nothing but Pre-war American Flyer.  I know that both Northwoods and I have #420's in our collections/picture galleries and if I can't answer the question I'm sure Northwoods can.
