I recently purchased a boxcar that is 38 in long 16 in high and 14 in wide
i believe it to be fron the early 1900s and is entirely made of wood, including the wheels. painted on both sides reads 40 hommes 8 chevaux etat
a.e.f. pullman france 17-19 it is in great cond but needs some repairs to
the wheels. if anyone may know about thiis piece please email me

Sounds like a French 40men/ 8horses boxcar they sent back to a museum after WW 1. JoeG.

I'm unfamiliar with the model that you have, but I think it could represent one of the cars of the Merci Train. After WWI, France sent a boxcar loaded with goodies to each state in the US. Check out this site for more information: http://www.rypn.org/Merci/
