I have a train set in the basement of the house I moved into. I'm not into trains and actually need the room for storage . Plus it didn't come w/ the trains which I am not able to afford. I'm looking to sell it and need help with trying to price it, where to try to sell it (where to post it that allows selling?), and identifying it. It is built into the house so I'm going to cut out sections w/ bridges in case someone wants to mold them into there set, remove the tracks, switches, trees, transformer things, wiring, buildings, etc.... Then use the frames as tables or shelves for storage. I've posted pictures and a video and would appreciate your knowledge and hepl you can provide, as I know little about this hobby. Please let me know if there is any information I can provide off the train set to help w/ getting an idea of what I got and what I should ask? Thanks

Call the Boy Scouts or Girls and Boys Club or YMCA youth program, or your church youth program...tell them to come and get it...or check with local hobby shop for someone who might want to purchase it or at least take it.
RIDEWITHMEHENRY is the name for our almost monthly day of riding trains and transit in either the NYCity or Philadelphia areas including all commuter lines, Amtrak, subways, light rail and trolleys, bus and ferries when warranted. No fees, just let us know you want to join the ride and pay your fares. Ask to be on our email list or find us on FB as RIDEWITHMEHENRY (all caps) to get descriptions of each outing.
Contact any local model train clubs thru some hobby shops, they might be interested in purchasing parts of it and help dismantle it. No ones going to buy it outright, but the parts and track can be parcelled off. Good Luck with it
Have fun with your trains
I'm assuming it's N scale?? The roundhouse and turntable (especially if it's motorized) should be worth something on Ebay. Looks the powerpacks are still there, they should be worth something.
Otherwise I don't think you'll get too much for anything. Unfortunately once track is laid it's value decreases significantly so I wouldn't expect much for any of that, and the bridges appear to be standard plastic kits (mostly Atlas) so aren't that valuable.
I would try maybe a local school or college that might have a model railroad club who maybe would agree to come in and remove the stuff in return for what they can salvage to re-use??
BTW the "Classic Trains" forum is for posts about real trains of the past, you'd probably get a lot more responses over on the Model Railroader magazine forum.
I have seen that layout before.
I think during a NMRA convention.
What city are you in?
Ballwin, MO (St. Louis county)

HiI don't who you have tried for advice on getting rid of the layout but the guys at Kirkwood Railroad Association HO, club might be some help. Try them they have been around along time. There was a lot of money put in your layout but unfortunately taking the parts out degrade their value. Have you talked to the hobby shops like Hobby Town on south kirkwood Rd?
Lots of luck
