In the late 40's or so I would see a yellow streamlined train passing in and out of Sacramento, CA. It was, what I now assume to be the main UP/BNSF/AMTRAK (SP) track going East out of Sac. The locomotive, to the child I was then, seemed to be very modern, it and the entire train were painted a bright yellow. If it helps, I was viewing from the back yard of a house in North Sacramento, the view was to the South and East. That seems to point to the current tack I noted above, based on the Railroad Atlas of North America. Can anyone give me some info on what this train was.

That would probably be the "City of San Francisco".  It was a joint C&NW/UP/SP train between Chicago and Oakland.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul
