I have been working a project over there for the last nine months.  I knew they had small roads in the fields and such.  But one day I was over on the Waianae and noticed tracks along the road.  I thought - cool and started researching about it on the net and found out about the Oahu RR.

Then the article in Classic trains WW2 issue.  Very neat.

A lot of the track is still in place between Waianae and Honouliuli.  they have placed signs on the rouads where the tracks cross, note: they have NOT been paved over, that say exempt crossing.  This means that trucks do not have to stop.  The museum in Ewa (pronounced e va) uses the tracks for thier excursions.

I too was in Hawaii for a 6 week project over the summer on the big island, and came across a train museum.  Though they don't have trains now but did at one time to haul sugar.
