Auto reverser problem

I have an auto reverser that seems to have died.   When we first installed it, it worked fine. Now it jus clicks as the train runs over it and the engine dies until I push it past the reverser.

Secondly, is it OK to program the engines on track with the reverser, or should I have a separate programming track?

Hello.  Depending on your scale, you should probably post this question in the Classic Toy Trains forum or in the Model Railroader General Discussion forum.  See the bottom of this page, and find "Forum Jump".  Open the menu at the side arrow, and select one of those two from the list that opens as appropriate for you.
