I decided that since I was up anyway I would open a new diner. The old one can be found HERE.
The diner has been moved to Shreveport, Louisiana this month. Enjoy.
I got a little sleep but not much. Below is a photo of the paintball impact area after I cleaned as much as possible out of my hair and changed my shirt obviously. It was a very bright red paint. A partial bruise can be seen forming behind my eye. It hit between the eye and the ear just below my temple.I have no idea who fired it, I didn't even see anyone.
I hope Ken is doing well. Having doctors waving scapels in your direction can be a very thing. I know, I've been there.

Good Morning All:
Holly Toledo Jeff, you’re lucky that wasn’t a temple shot or an ear shot. I would have filed a police report just in case you have medical problems.

I never thought I would look forward to going to work on a Monday but after being cooped up in the house for 9 days I’m ready to get back to normal. Harbor Freight sent me a 20% off coupon so I’ll be headed over there today to see what they have that I can’t live without.
Good Morning
It is 64F going to a high of 82F today...in the sunshine....
Going to have a lazy day today...and being that I am now a new size, enjoying it...

Mornin'
Jeffrey..I will have to take you to task if you don't report that paintball hitting you where it did ASAP!!!! I mean Like NOW!!! Today!!! This hour!!! Oh. BTW thanks for moving the diner..I though about it at 7 pm but thought I'd wait it was too early then, guess Ulrich either slept through it or wasn't feeling well enough to move, or decided to let someone else move it..BTW- WHere ARE we???
Lee- I tend to stay away from such shopping unless there is something in particular I need. Because there are a WHOLE BUNCH of things "I can't live without"!!!
Well, 1 load of laundry left adn a few diishes. That about sums up my chores.
will be around 90* today, I know some of you will be jealous. Hum-did-ity is higher today too!
Good Morning!!!
HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!!
Sunday Breakfast buffet please. Oh you betcha coffee……LOT’s of coffee thank you.
IT RAINED!!!!! Last evening and off and on throughout the night. Brenda looked at the gage today and said 1 inch. Haven’t seen it myself, so knowing her it could be ¼” . Supposed to rain today also. If it rains this evening I’ll laugh. Hasn’t rained in 6 months enough to make a sugar cube sticky, but the day of the 4th of July celebration….
Jeff- As far as the movies go, you had all the luck with the theaters didn't you. Actually, I didn’t see many movies in the theaters myself. Most I’ve seen were on rental tapes. Wasn’t really a big Movie House goin guy. Still not. Your cable lineup sounds a lot like ours except ours rarely goes out. Luckily what “Good” channels we have, carry most shows I like or enough I don’t care about the ones we don’t. There a rash of paint ball snipers around there? That’d juuuust about p*** me off. Not funny and very dangerous. I hope it was some kids playing painball and just a missed shot. Either way....
Charlie_ Happy Anniversary!!!
Simon- Thanks for the update on Ken. Hope you had a nice trip.
DerJohn- Sorry you may have to move. Dare I ask?
In-cousins made it in last night right as the rain hit. Nice. So if they brought it with them….., They’re alright. Brought a couple Chihuahua’s with ‘em. Unexpected. Missy is ok with it so far. First time another critter otherna bug been in her home. First thing one of em did was walk up to the couch, lift his leg, and pee. What was the response from the husband? “oh he’s just marking his territory”. HIS territory???!!! Took the dog outside, came back in and what did he do 20 minutes later? Yup, pee’d on the couch. Missy’s kinda confused why her home is being used as a toilet. I’m not a real happy camper right now. Good news is, they’re leaving on Tuesday. Hopefully morning. Don’t get me wrong, they are nice and I do like them, but it’s sure starting out on the wrong foot which wasn't that great of footing to begin with. Don't know if I mentioned that or not. Dontcha think youda asked if they could bring a dog or two with them if they’re staying at your house??? What if Missy didn’t get along with em. Hmmmm, maybe I need to have a talk with ole Miss.
Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

No more news on Ken, probably won't get an update until tomorrow as I got the distinct impression that not a whole lot happens at the VA on a Sunday.
We had a great time on our trip here are some of the incredible slghts

Good morning. It's 80° and partly cloudy. The high will be 95° with a 20% chance of rain. The expected heat index will be about 104°.I thought about calling in a report on the paintball shooting yesterday but report what? All I remember is getting tagged. There was a dust cloud on the other road from where a vehicle had gone past apparently quite fast. I didn't see the vehicle, only heard it. Crunching gravel, loud pipes, loud music. That describes 90% of the vehicles out here, cars and trucks. I don't even have a color. There's a bunch of pine trees between the roads so unless you're looking more or less straight across you're not going to get a real good look. But I'm going to keep an ear tuned for those pipes. I don't care what type of vehicle you have, how big or small, what color, every vehicle has a unique sound. You can change the color and appearance but unless you change out the exhaust system and re-tune the engine that sound is going to be the same.Going to mow the parents yard today IF the tractor doesn't decide to have a Murphy attack and the heat doesn't get to be too much too fast. That's a problem sometimes in this part of the country. Sometimes it heats up slowly and other times it's a bang-on full heat wave before 11 am.Oh yeah, the headache is gone.
Morning All,
Happy Canada Day to our friends to the north.
I go to w**k at 3 PM today. Last night I built the 3 Accrual 55 T hoppers, put on Kadee's and metal wheels, weathered and put coal loads in them. It took about 3 hours to get everything done. I will check the coal loads in a bit to see if they dried OK. Before work I plan on painting the parts of the PRR tower so that it does not look like plastic as much. I ordered AIM weathering powders yesterday for motive power weathering and Jeff gave me tips on how to do it.
Jeff- I'm glad you are OK. It could of been much worse. My first thought was teenagers being stupid.
I sure hope Ken is doing OK
Lee- I know how you feel. I'm glad you are healing so well.
Simon- France?
DerJohn- Sorry you have to move. Are you going to be able to salvage some of your layout? The VA moves slowly at the best of times.
Hope everyone has a good day and prayers for those in need.

Simon ... Thanks for posting the pictures of the trip.... Also, thanks for informing us about Ken. Please tell Ken we all care about him.
Jeff ..... I'm glad the headache improved, but WOW ! ... My 2 cents, the police should be informed because if the idiots continue their "fun" eventually somebody will have a major injury. If they shoot somebody who is driving, they could cause a serious collision. Police need to stop them before it is too late. .... Thanks for moving the diner.

Jeffrey, DO call in the incident as it may well be one in a series of similar acts. It may help somehow, and preserves your rights as well. You are very lucky it wasn't an inch forward.........
Will be another warm day here in the Finger Lakes Region. Currently 78°F outside with a high in the mid to upper 80's later. Will be a good day to do laundry and play down cellar in the Train Room!

Good more-or-less lunch time Diners! A couple of bacon crepes with maple syrup and coffee please - Harry's treat (unless this is your first visit Harry - I've been out so much I'm not up to date with who's who any more. Really good weather for our 145th Anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the British North America Act, 1867 (today called the Constitution Act, 1867, in Canada), which united three colonies into a single country called Canada within the British Empire.[1][2][3] Originally called Dominion Day (French: Le Jour de la Confédération), the name was changed in 1982, the year the Canada Act was passed. Canada Day observances take place throughout Canada as well as by Canadians internationally. (thanks Wikipedia!) Haven't heard from our West Virginia friends - hope they weathered the storm OK.
Garry:
Der John .... Thanks for posting photos of the model ship. 1/700 is very tiny. Great job! .... ...... Sorry to hear you are making plans to move. Is the layout movable?
I bet nobody makes scale sailors for that size.
Todd:
DerJohn- Sorry you have to move. Are you going to be able to salvage some of your layout?
As to the layout, or any continuing mrr, it depends on what we get by way of space. That will likely be at a premium - so it's a toss up between scaling down to Z, or back up to HO on a very reduced track plan. That's why that cat was pacing!
Off to the beach this afternoon as SWMBO has decreed no moving in the heat of the day. It'll be our first visit to Taylor Head Beach this year. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taylor_Head_Beach ...and yes, it is THAT empty. Even on this holiday weekend we're not expecting to see more that 100 people - and they would be crowded onto the 1 kilometer of sand.

Good Evening Gang!
Reporting back from a trip down south to see my MIL. We got o phone call Friday night, alarming us about health issues, so we decided to leave Saturday early in the morning to see after her. It´s a 5 hour drive, so we arrived by noon in the hospital. well, to cut things short, she´s doing fine again, it was just the hot and humid weather that sent her to the floor and not a heart attack, as we had to fear.
I am going to get some rest now, driving back was a drag as well.
CU all tomorrow & Have a really good one!
P.S. Any news from Ken?

Well my trip to WallyWorld was tame. Only normal humans, no aliens.
Der- Good thinking. Yep, there does come a time to move. Heck of a thing to have to go through. Many of my passengers are widows and can't drive anymore tho I do have a few males in the same boat.
Prayers and cooler weather.

Well it's 88, feels like 103. I got the grass cut and got overheated in the process. Now I feel like crap not that I felt all that great earlier. I'm sitting back getting hydrated as best I can. Got the laundry done. The T-shirt I was wearing yesterday STILL has a big bright red stain on the left shoulder. It's latex paint, I could tell tell from the smell and it doesn't wash out. So there's a T-shirt that can be put in the tool box to be used as a cleaning cloth. That ticks me off so much! I'm on a very tight budget due a very small fixed income. Only a small part of that is for clothing. You try getting along on a hair under $700 a month. I do it but it ain't easy. Think I'll go crash now.
Italian roast coffee in a SCORCHING SOUTHERN mug, please
***Jeffrey, I would still have filed a report. Hope you discover the culprits.
Healing thoughts to those in need.
Cheers! Rob
I let the Sheriffs Dept know what happened out here yesterday and put in a patrol request. Maybe they'll catch the person, most likely not.

Good Afternoon
I'm working away down in the basement with a few new yards to put together...
83F feeling like 88F....so far...
Good Afternoon, Flo - how about a RBF, grilled cheese sandwich, and some cheesey fries, please? Thank you!
Jeff, that does NOT look good (even this early on) beside your eye. I would second the recommendation to report it to the police Good to hear you reported it to the sheriff - at a minimum, so the 'painters' don't shoot some little old lady driving home, and she then dies (from the wreck that she'll likely has, if not the heart attack..). The deputies could help keep a lookout in that area, hopefully. Could've been worse - coulda been a bottle rocket...('tis the season this time of year). If your headache continues through today, might want to go see your doctor and make sure you didn't get a concussion out of that. (Whew!) Todd may have it about right - painball! Pretty hefty splashback on your van panel there, though! How big is a paintball?
Happy Canada Day! to our NOTB brothers (& any NOTB sisters who may just be too polite to post from there) (And DerJohn, though I know I wasn't in the Diner in the 1980's, I sorta had been thinking of "Dominion Day" - must've heard it somewhere, I guess)
DerJohn, I hope your new place will have some suitable train room/space. I recall your layout, and moving it is not likely to be very easy. Hopefully, you can retrieve/salvage some modules with turnouts/yards and the like, and not have to go through that again. If you stayed in iNvisible scale, you'd be able to reuse your turnouts (which I find are about the most expensive part of a layout (second to DCC, perhaps). Great job on the teensy-tiny scale ship, and as usual for you with the smaller scales, you did your usual excellent job. Though I can see why (with that many pieces) you'd prefer not to make another of that complexity. Ah, moving - such a wonderful experience... for things to go much better than my last couple of moves. Indeed good to plan ahead.
Ummm,... Todd, I suppose it'd be hard to have some 'accident' happen to the Chihuahua (like a bare wire with say, a 9V. batter hooked up, under that part of the couch that the little critter is partial to...)? (Unless Missy comes up with a better idea, that is) Yeah, I would expect someone to ask first before bringing their dog (of any size) to my home. Heck, family or not, I'd be stopping them at the door before they even thought of bringing some little "territory-marking" varmit across the threshhold. (And usually, I like dogs - at others' homes, that is, or if it's my own dog)
And speaking of precipitation, it looks like we might be getting some of that here (well, at least, we have some dark clouds approaching from the west-southwest currently. But then again, we might get five or six drops, or just enough to raise the (already) high humidity. Temperature was 104 F (40 C) with heat index of 109 F (almost 43 C) a few minutes ago, but it is dropping - it's now only 96 F (38 C)(heat index of 100 F/ 38 C), but no sign of rain yet(!)
Simon, looks like your boys were having a good time there. I've never been 'across the pond', so I wouldn't have a clue on where the last couple of photos were taken - Dover?
Curt, my guess would be along the lines of yours (or maybe in their early twenties, and still stupid...). (But hoodlums are hoodlums, IMHO, no matter how young & stupid they might be)
Lee, best wishes on a smooth transition back to w**k tomorrow.
Sawyer - good to know you're still kickin'! Are you w**king any this summer? (Helps with MRR funds...)
Sakel - to the Diner! Yep, we are using Gregorian calendars, but they (I had to go look it up) weren't adopted until 1582 AD. Julian was much earlier...(No, I wasn't around then for the start of either calendar...) So what are your MRR'ing plans/design/dreams? Fill us in and have a beverage on me.
Barry, in the train room sounds like a good place to be - how's the yard coming along? Have you posted pics of it yet (and if not, why not? )?
Last night, I was thinking about making a 2'X4' section for the layout (and trying to set it up so I could put some more structures on it along with tracks). But didn't get to that just yet. Did start getting my financial stuff for this year entered into the program on my MacBook Pro. Gonna need to set aside several (fairly short) blocks of time for that, I can see. No question in my mind about why I never though about becoming an accountant or bookkeeper, nope!
So we're in Shreveport, Louisiana, eh? Guess that means crawdads will be added to the menu, along with some gumbo and a few other things (so long as they don't all have a Jeffery-sized portion of 'DaBomb' already added to them..!) I'll donate my portion of that sauce to you, Jeff!
It was good to hear that the firefighters in Colorado are starting to make some headway against those fires. for the people who will then be going back to see what's left of their homes, and for some well-earned rest for all the fire crews (on the ground and the flying crews as well).
Blessings and prayers,
Jim in Cape G.
