Happy New Year, Gang!
The Diner has been moved to it´s new location - we are in upstate NY, close to Ray´s home.
Here is a trail of bread crumbs to the old place
Happy New Year!!!!
One one me!!!! Hey!!! Hey!!!!
ChadLRyan Have you ever seen the episode: "Weeping Angles"Or something like that? It was the one that the weeping angle statues come alive in the dark & when not directly seen by the human eye.... Very exciting & severely scary at the same time. One of my favorite modern episodes ever!!! Very well done!

Have you ever wondered about Dr River Song? The first time viewers saw her was in the episode 'The Library'. She knew the Doctor but he didn't know her as she was from his future. Who is she? What's her connection to Doctor Who? Do you know? I do.
Rob: I've been following the doctor since the late 70's when the series was black and white and the cyber men looked like cheap rubber suits and Daleks looked like cheaply made evil salt shakers. I would love to see something like the Grinch trying to steal Christmas from a Dalek, That wouldn't end well! For the Grinch that is!

I gotta apologize guys, I started in the Christopher Eccleston era, & enjoyed it!
So,
Jeffrey, I have not followed it to know that song or the character..
Rob, I'm clueless to that as well.. Sorry
However as music goes, when Billie Piper left, that was somewhat emotionally intense & drawing!
I checked & it has a couple tracks listed usnder "MY" search "Dr Who Doomsday"
Still stunning...
New York is a VERY nice place to be ☺
Here is an EXPRESS train rushing through the tunnel.
Here he is again approaching Prospect Park Station...

Hey, Happy New Year LION!!!
(Glad to see NYC (LION Line) still has commuter service on the holiday!!!)
Happy New Year everyone. It sounds like the V.C. are trying to get in the place. I guess that folks are setting off all the fireworks that they couldn't on the 4th because of the fire danger.
Tonight I am going to hit the basement and see if I can solve a few layout problems. I think that is a good way to close out the old and bring in the new.
Hey guys.
Sorry I missed last years place but Christmas stuff and well....
Jeff- I've watched some Doctor Who. Good show. That and Top Gear are the only shows I watch on BBC America.
International Shows- I will admit, I don't care for some of the odder ones. (Don't expect me to start watching Chinese or Korean entertainment) But thanks to a few friends of mine at school and a couple of my cousins, I've started watching that Japanese anime. Some of the stuff is pretty interesting.
I'm glad to be back. Nothing for me tonight Flo. I've got to get to bed to go to the Cliffs in Utica tomorrow. I promise I won't get hurt. Jeeze.
If you can read this... thank a teacher. If you are reading this in english... thank a veteran
When in doubt. grab a hammer.
If it moves and isn't supposed to, get a hammer
If it doesn't move and is supposed to, get a hammer
If it's broken, get a hammer
If it can't be fixed with a hammer... DUCK TAPE!
Happy New Year wherever you are! I'm going to bed. See y'all in 2012.
Just looking for the Grinch!everybody; and thanks Ulrich for moving us so efficiently!
We are having a quiet NYE celebration on our part of Sober Island; and a rain storm will likely keep things damped down in the more normally exuberant spots too.
Away for a bit - goodnight and God Bless. Prayers for all in this coming year

Teen Steam Fan,
I have always liked the raunchy Aussie flix, they are, well, excessive in my kind of way!
PG13 seems not to apply as they can get wild quick, Oy!!!
I remember one as a teenager, where a Young woman school teacher tried to smuggle her class out from under vicious robber/killers that wore Donald Duck masks & tried to hunt them down.. That was intense to me at that age, but fun staying up late with Dad to watch it..
Happy new year fellow diners!!
I went to post last night but there must be a 2012 'millenium' bug as at 11.59.59pm my laptop crashed the HDD had given up the ghost. I stuck the HDD from my sisters (identical) laptop to get going again. I need to get a USB HDD caddy and a recovery program and i'll be set.
I bought some Heki static grass mats yesterday to try out, the ones you rip apart into random grass patches. Here is a photo of what it looks like. I will have to buy a couple more to finish the layout. Mixed with WS burnt fine ground foam I think it looks good.
Rob: That tractor sure looks good, Mahindra make a nice machine these days. My neighbour is a council mowing contractor and he bought a new Mahindra 12 months ago to replace his John Deere, and it hasn't skipped a beat.
Jeffrey : I know the story behind River Song... Good Ol' Melody Pond!! The Angels I reckon are the scariest of the 'villians' in the show. Daleks and Cybermen are my favourites though.
Will try get back in later on.
Cheers

So, we move to New York...and DALEKs are in the Diner?
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. I always wanted a Dalek or two! I really want one to haul around in the back of my truck to take care of all the jack-wagons out on the road! "TAIL-GATE-ER! EX-TER-MIN-ATE! EX-TER-MIN-ATE!"
Goooooooooooooooooooooooood Evening, it sounds like my Wife oughta be chatting with some of you guys; she's become a big-time Dr. Who fan over the past year or so, especially for the newest stuff. I never did watch all THAT much of it, but remember the Doctor with the hat and mile-long scarf...Tom Baker, I think. Reminds me a little bit of a really cool ER doc we used to have in Cedar cRapids.
CHAD: Awesome job on the Red Green van! Sounds like you're in for a "wintry blast" tonight. We'll get the wind down here too, but we're not expected to expect as much of the white stuff as you folks up north.
Probably won't see in the new year...anymore, it's just not THAT big of a deal. Take one calendar down, put up another. Yippee. I'd blame Hallmark for all the fuss, but like TODD said, there isn't a card for this "holiday."
Someone mentioned the Y2K nonsense. I remember THAT night well. The gal I was supposedly engaged to at the time was on standby for the Iowa Army National Guard. I was on standby for the second-out rig of the Anamosa Area Ambulance. One of her fellow Guard members w**ked at the State Pen in Anamosa. He told us the plan was THAT if the brown stuff hit the fan, the prisoners would be shot and the Pen would become a "safe haven" for the guards, their families and close friends. With its massive Anamosa limestone walls, it truly would've been something of a fortress for his little Mad Max fantasy.
Around 0300 (I was still up watching TV as a Cedar cRapids station was airing every special program they'd ever ran in non-stop marathon form) the phone rang. Some Sgt.-something with her unit called to give the official "stand down."
Again, a very Happy and SAFE New Year to everybody. Let's hope it turns out a helluva lot better than 2011 for us all.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Anybody know how I can send some Daleks to Washington DC???

Evening, everyone! Hope you all are enjoying the evening and are staying safe (especially the majority of diners that are over 21).
James, nice work on the layout!
See you all in 2012!

Happy New Year everyone. May it bring better health, prosperity, and more importantly, happiness to all. Like some others, we will be retired for the evening by that magical hour. The wife had a wine cooler, and I had my vodka and Squirt a little while ago. That's about the extent of our celebration the last couple of years.
The wife has been discharged from home care since Thursday. The Nurse and the therapists all said she no longer needs their care. We will call this coming week and make arrangements for physical therapy as an outpatient. On the 13th we see the surgeon to arrange for outpatient surgery to remove all the screws from her ankle. She is doing well, and isn't living in the dining room anymore. . Took her out to breakfast and lunch a couple of times the past few days. As she hasn't been outside more than a couple of times in the past 3 months, she really enjoyed that. Still uses a walker or a cane, but more for balance than for support.
Upper New York is a good place to be I suppose, but I like it there in the Fall best. While we are there, I highly recommend the Wine Trail around Seneca Lake. There is such a great selection of wineries and their wines, that I make the trip once or twice a year to stock up. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our reservations this past October when the wife injured herself. Maybe Ray can organize a tour. Possibly it might include a ride on the Finger Lakes Railroad from Geneva down past the salt mines to Watkins Glen. Boy, would I enjoy that.
So once again, Happy New Year to all...

Well, I came back to pick up the hat I left on the counter and viola the siding is empty. Upstate eh? Iotsa nice scenery up there Do we get a tour too? As it's been the last few days I fell asleep before 8 in front of the one eyed monster (Twilight Zone marathon) and now l'm wide awake. I did get to the layout and ran some more of the elevated track up to the cut for the river.
What are most of you using for paints these days? I dug out the Floquil I have had but a lot of it didn't get through storage in the uninsulated container too well. I like using latex house paint on the scenery and some of the buildings but it clogs in my airbrush so..... enamel or acrylic ? And which has the most colors?
Still trying to get the computer to speak to the picture host maybe more attempts tomorrow. J.R.
Jellybabies, please.
For just a moment, thought this was Gallifrey. Then woke up enough to realize the Diner had just moved. Guess I dozed off there.
***Jeffrey, the whole River Song story line was great, IMO.
Happy New Year, folks.
Rob
Chris, AmanaMedic,
Thanks! on the Possum Van Compliment!
I recently started working again (yeah!) & I support a dispatch software product. Although I am on the Police side they have a huge Fire & EMS division.Honestly there is quite a little bit of pride that comes with supporting public safety, that I had not gotten with a former company, that recently wanted to charge folks to pay their bill!!!
Enough said, it's more enjoyable to help folks, even from a distance!!
Good Morning, and;
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Howdy All!
Been quite some time since I've been in.
Whole lotta stuff has been going on over here. Over my vacation I've been writing and recording original songs. If you're a fan of classic rock (Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, ZZTop, Aerosmith, etc), I'd love if you'd have a listen and give me feedback!

The drums in a couple of them aren't very good; I don't have nearly enough mics (I've just got two). I'd really appreciate any feedback.Adios,Mark
It's been a crazy year, with all the tornados, floods, snow storms, earthquakes, tsunamis. Boy the earth went nuts this past year.
Here's hoping to a better 2012.

GOOD MORNING!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Today is New Year's Day, January 1st, 2012!!!
Middle English JanuarieLatin Januarius "of Janus"Latin Janu(s) "Janus" + -arius "ary (pertaining to)"Latin Januarius mensis "month of Janus"
Janus is the Roman god of gates and doorways, depicted with two faces looking in opposite directions. His festival month is January.
Januarius had 29 days, until Julius when it became 31 days long.

Sir Madog Happy New Year, Gang! The Diner has been moved to it´s new location - we are in upstate NY, close to Ray´s home.
Thank You for moving us Ulrich!
I polished up the RC.
SInce Ray is not really that far from me as the Crow flies, though the squirrely roads to get there can add another half an hour to a drive, I shall also be "right at home".Notice how warm it is today here? It will get down right chilly the next few days!
Ray is closer to his museum and is about equidistant from me as Steamtown is! Although Steamtown doesn't run their steam locos this time of year, perhaps a side trip would be necessary for those who have never been, and likely won't ever get there. Ulrich, DO plan an outting for Steamtown!

JR; buy one of those battery operated paint mixers from Micromark they really do work. I have had good luck with the “Craft Essentials” Acrylic Paint. It comes in several colors and JoAnn Fabrics sells it for $1 - $3 for 8oz.

TA You had to bring up about Jeffery's van having a computer! You missed that post where he got into it with a Auto Parts guy about that subject.
Well, got to get ready for work. Not in the mood and have no idea what is waiting for me today? Working from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM today.
See you all later!
