This next chapter comes from the Colorado Railroad Museum where D&RGW OB Pile Driver was the highlight event on a cold October day.

Now D&RGW OB was not the only thing running that day and here Lisa catches Shay #12 backing down the loop.

While Lisa was watching for the Shay to come around the loop she also got a shot the Standard Oil Saddle Tank Engine #1.
Lisa took in several shots of Shay #12 as it pulled cars around the loop and I picked just a few to show off the action... - - -
When the D&RGW used the OB Pile Driver it would have been brought to the site by being pushed by a MOW train and it this case D&RGW #346 did the duty...
An engine was not only used to move the OB to the work location but also to provide the steam since OB was neither self propelled nor does it have a boiler of its own.

OK, time to meet the STAR of this event, Denver and Rio Grande Western OB; Pile Driver. Here are a few shots Lisa took of OB before they started their demonstration of it's operation. - -
While Lisa was getting some outside shots I tried to get a few interior ones... - - -
Lisa will also setup and take several shots as they raise the driver into place. I will pick these four that give you the idea of the strobe shot look of it moving up into place... - -
With the Pile Driver upright it's moved over a pole that needs to be driven deeper into the ground. The weight is lifted a foot or so higher then the poll height as you can see below. It is then dropped onto the pole pushing in a bit deeper into the ground
Oh Yea, they made it fun to watch a few times. What the heck are they doing with the Cantaloupe!!!!!!! Squish!
You knew a Watermelon was going to show up... Splat!
Now given most of these photos are ones Lisa took you might ask what the hack was Darren doing. Well, my old Camcorder was starting to fail and with the cold and snow of that October day I decided to leave it at home and just take my little Poin t-n-Shot with me; but, it does take video; so...
