Posted by Shep'sKCSrailroad1987 on Monday, March 21, 2011 1:24 PM

OK I have an ho scale athearn genesis sd45-2 that says dcc/sound on the box. I test the sound and the engine to see if everything works an does. So I was wondering the board in the loco doesnt have a quick plug in it and wanting to know how can i add dcc to it.

thanks if you need know info or pics i can email them to you. Just PM me first.

Sounds to me like it already has DCC,  and with sound.

Will it not run on DCC?

If it says DCC with sound try address 3  for starters.  After that do a reset of the decoder to try to get it to factory default.   First try using the Tsunami reset CV and if that doesn't work try the same for MRC decoders.

Here's a link to the Tsunami manuals for the loco.  If it's new it should have the Tsunami.

The reset would be simply setting CV8 to 8

Sometimes their not tsunami, it could be mrc equipment. Some of the earlier genisis models came with the mrc sound decoders in them . I have an genisis sd45-2 with an mrc sound decoder in it. But if anything , give it a reset first.
